The Best Crypto Events in Europe 2026

Europe is currently a hot topic in the crypto sphere as an active region on the global crypto events calendar. With the EU’s new MiCA regulation now fully in effect and institutional players moving deeper into digital assets, 2026 is shaping up to be a packed year for conferences, hackathons and summits across the continent. Whatever your position, here are some events worth putting in your diary.

Quick-glance calendar

ETHGlobal Lisbon 2026 – Lisbon, July 24-26

ETHGlobal Lisbon is an application-based hackathon, not a badge-and-booth conference. It is built for Ethereum developers who want protocol teams, mentors and one intense weekend of shipping.

It suits people who can arrive with a project idea, form a team fast and leave with a demo, not just a contact list. Apply early; selection is part of the filter.

ETHRome – Rome, September 11–13

It’s Numero Quattro for ETHRome as of the the EU’s biggest and most respected Ethereum hackathon, gears up for its next edition. ETHRome is the more community-coded Ethereum stop: smaller, rougher around the edges in the best possible way, and hosted at Talent Garden Roma. The draw is AI, privacy, governance and dev culture.

Go if you prefer community density over polished production. Smaller rooms usually mean better odds of meeting serious builders rather than collecting lanyards.

Informal networking being key, because many partnerships happen over pizza and craft beer just as much as on a conference floor behind name tags and official sounding titles.

European Blockchain Convention (EBC) September 16 – 17

It’s back to Barcelona for the 12th edition of the European Blockchain Convention.

EBC12 is expected to bring together more than 6,000 attendees from over 70 countries, alongside 300-plus speakers covering DeFi, tokenisation, MiCA compliance and institutional adoption. EBC continues to set itself apart because of the culture around the event.

There’s already 10,000 pre-arranged one to one meetings powered by their event app, as well as a Startup Battle Pitch competition, private roundtables and mentoring sessions.

Bitcoin Amsterdam November 5 – 6

Europe’s Flagship, Bitcoin-only event. Bitcoin Amsterdam is closer than you think and many are already lined up to participate in this exciting event. Organised by BTC Inc and backed by Treasury, a Netherlands-based Bitcoin treasury company.

November will unite the technologists, whistleblowers, politicians and a few influential figures in the financial crowd. So, if you were thinking about whether you’ll get a chance to rub shoulders with decision makers and the doers of the industry, this is certainly a place you’d like to position yourself.

With over 5,000 expected attendees, it’s also one of the more accessible major events on this list, with general tickets sitting well below institutional-focused conferences.

Solana Breakpoint – London, November 15–17

Solana is taking its own flagship annual conference to the UK. London’s Olympia Exhibition centre will host a wide range of professionals. Solana’s flagship annual conference makes its first-ever trip to the UK this year, and is explicitly positioned as Solana’s push into European institutional finance.

Noteworthy keynotes, technical deep dives, live product announcements and a hackathon will run alongside the main event.

Additionally, a Solana Hacker House is featured in the lead-up. Previous editions of the event have drawn up to 7,000 attendees in the past from over 100 countries and 2026 is expected to be no different. The vision for 2027 and beyond is on the metaphorical docket, so Solana Breakpoint will be an important barometer on what is to come.

Bitcoin++ Berlin – Berlin, October 1–3

While most Bitcoin events try to touch all the facets surrounding the digital currency, Bitcoin++ is more technical and developer-centric. Hosted annually in Berlin, the 2026 edition will be themed around “payments”.  This application heavy focus is of course drawing attention from various industries.

Confirmed speakers worth noting include Allen Farrington, Dhananjay Purohit, Jesse Shrader and Walter Maffione.

Bitcoin++ is the developer-first conference series that’s become a fixture on the technical side of the Bitcoin world, and Berlin is its long-running European home. The 2026 “payments” theme, will continue the series’ format of deep, workshop-heavy sessions rather than broad keynote speeches.

This event is aimed at engineers and protocol researchers focusing on Lightning, Layer 2 scaling, privacy tooling and payments infrastructure. If your interest in Bitcoin is technical rather than promotional, Bitcoin++ stands to offer a more substantial opportunity.

MERGE Madrid – October 27–29

Merge Madrid is a unique event that bridges the European and Latin American crypto scenes. This unique bridge has brought together many projects and individuals and continues to impress attendees year on year. This year’s edition spans three days across two landmark venues:

  • an Institutional Summit at the historical Bolsa de Madrid on October 27,

followed by

  • the main congress at the Palacio de Cibeles on October 28 and 29.

2026 is expected to host up to 3,000 attendees, to see 200-plus speakers, and if that wasn’t exciting enough, MERGE leans towards the institutional presence, pulling in central banks, regulators and payment giants rubbing shoulders with Web3 startups and DeFi protocols engineers. This creates a fantastic opportunity for both sides to meet in the middle and present their needs as well as what they can offer.

Presentations will be offered both in English and Spanish, and topics span asset tokenisation, stablecoins, cross-border payments and institutional custody.

Planning Your Europe Crypto Calendar

Taken together, these events map out a season that runs from early September through mid-November, with a mix of institutional dealmaking (EBC, MERGE Madrid), builder-focused hacking (ETHRome, ETHGlobal), and flagship ecosystem conferences (Bitcoin Amsterdam, Solana Breakpoint, Bitcoin++ Berlin).

At the moment, some see the situation as: institutions are waiting for one of their own to step out and take the risk before they do, however, this doesn’t mean they’re taking a back seat to the shifting climate, but more likely, they want to metaphorically be 2nd out of the gate with just a fraction of a second behind the lead.

Whichever events make your list, 2026 confirms that Europe isn’t just following the trends in crypto but fighting to also stand at the forefront alongside North America and Asia. Between MiCA’s full rollout and the scale of institutional names now showing up on speaker lists, the European continent has become one of the industry’s most important stages.
